June 8, 2008After a few weeks of battling with a new computer and a new operating system, we're back in action and have finally managed to upload some new fics. You'll find them here: Three at the Crossroads: Chapter 2 by Persephone and Siren. A big thank you to Wisteria, Grace, Samantha and Serenity Song for their help with preparing some of the older fics for uploading. Anyone else who happens to have some free time for reading this summer is more than welcome to help out. The sooner we get these finished, the sooner we can open the new archive up to all! April 20, 2008As we continue our work on the re-vamped Archive, we've not forgotten the original version. April 15, 2008We'd like to take a moment to send out a huge thank you to the handful of individuals who have offered to help us out with tidying up some of the old, orphaned fics. To those who have taken the time to read through and send in stories, you have no idea how much we appreciate your help. This is a huge project and we can guarantee that it will be worth all the work in the end. We absolutely couldn't do this alone and every contribution brings us one step closer to our final goal. If anyone else is able to help with this, feel free to send an e-mail along to forbiddenarchive@yahoo.com and we'll let you know what we need.
March 31, 2008We know you've all been waiting very patiently for the revamped Archive with all its new bells and whistles, but it's become apparent that our first estimate of early 2008 for a completion date was way off the mark. At the moment we've uploaded less than 100 of a total 1310 fics to the new site. We all have obligations away from this on-line world as well as our own site to run and this just isn't going as quickly as we originally expected. I think it's time to ask for help, so here we are. Who better to request help from than those who have been reading, writing and enjoying these stories for so many years? Our goal for the new (and far more interactive) site is to have all 1310 stories cleaned up in preparation for uploading. This involves reading each fic, adding plot summaries for those who don't have them, running them through a spell checker, adding paragraph breaks for easier reading, rating them with our new fiction ratings system, categorizing them, adding spoiler warnings, listing characters involved, etc. Sounds like a lot of work and it is, but in the end we will have an Archive of some of the best VC fiction around searchable by author, character, category and more. As you know, many of the original authors have dropped off the face of the Earth. Though we have made some efforts to find or contact them, it seems an impossible task. Because of this, it isn't simply a matter of e-mailing someone to ask for a summary of their story or to check which characters were included, it's become a job we've been trying to complete ourselves in whatever free time we can spare. So, we need your help. If you are an author of some of the original fics (those added in the past year are not in need of the above mentioned things), we ask that you contact us (with your pen name) at forbiddenarchive@yahoo.com so we can tell you what we need from you, if anything at all. It's probably as simple as just a bit of missing information like a short summary or a rating. As for the rest of you, we're asking for help with reading, spell checking, categorizing, etc. some of these orphaned fics. If this is something you might be interesting in doing please contact us at the address listed above. Let us know what you think you'll have time for and we will send you a more detailed explanation of what we need done for each story as well as a link to some that need doing. You'll probably be asked to work on a handful of stories, a certain authors collection or a letter of the alphabet depending on what you think you'd like to do. There is no huge rush on this and no one here needs to feel obligated to help out if they don't want to or won't have time to spare. It's just a simple request to anyone willing and we can certainly use all the help we can get. Thanks in advance!
March 31, 2008Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience the recent downtime may have caused. The Forbidden Archive is still there, we promise. It's just that our web host seems to be forever experiencing issues with the server we're on which is resulting in our sites being unavailable far more frequently than any of us would like. It's a minor annoyance and never lasts more than a few hours at most, but because to this we are considering a change of hosts in the not too distant future to hopefully solve this issue permanently. We'll be certain to keep you updated. When the server issues are repaired (hopefully very soon), we have finally uploaded two new fics for you to enjoy: Three at the Crossroads by Persephone and Siren
February 6, 2008This is just a quick note to let everyone know that the re-vamped Archive has not been forgotten. We have quite a bit on our plates right now, but we're still hard at work on this in whatever spare time we can find. We've recruited some good friends to help spell check, add paragraph breaks, ratings, summaries, etc. to the old fics and this is taking a little longer than expected. At the moment, the original Archive contains 1126 stories, so I'm sure you can imagine the workload. It will definitely be worth it in the end.

September 28, 2007First off, we would like to thank all of you for your continued interest in the Forbidden Archive and the wonderful stories being kept there. Now that the Chronicles have ended, the movies have been made and the musical has closed, it is up to the writers, site designers and artists to keep the fandom alive for future generations to enjoy.

We'd like to thank Mevinan, for keeping it safe for so long and, of course, Black Rose for originally compiling it. For now the Archive has gone back to it's original look, but we have plans for a major revamp which will make the site a little more user friendly and easier to navigate. Updates will be posted on this page and in The Forbidden Archive Livejournal.
May 4, 2005So, I have finally given the archive some attention. I know, I know, it's been forever, and today isn't even really an update! I promise, I have some fics to update, and I will! I just couldn't stand this layout anymore. So, please bear with me as I redo the site - if there are errors with spacing or the old buttons showing up, give me a few days to work it out. Thank you so much for your patience, and for no one trying to take control of the archive away from me, even though I have been a horrible archive keeper! Please send me any specs that I don't have. Thanks!!!
