Summary: Louis and Lestat talk after seeing Hamlet.

"To be or not to be-"

"Lestat..."

"-that is the question-"

"Lestat!"

"Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer," Lestat gave Louis an accusatory glance. "The slings and arrows of outrageous fortune!"

"Stop it, people are staring."

"Or to take arms against a sea of troubles..."

This time, Louis made a point of saying nothing.

Not surprisingly, it worked, but Louis knew Lestat well.

"You see, Louis! That is where we are different."

"That is where we are different?" Louis asked doubtfully, already imagining a thousand other examples.

"Don't you know the soliloquy?"

"It's about life and death."

"Wrong! You were distracted by the skull, weren't you? That's very typical of you, Louis. It's about much more than that. Action verses inaction. That! That is where we are different! The way that we make decisions-"

Irritated, Louis pulled his arm from Lestat's grasp, but it was only snatched back again. "And what great decision have you made lately?" Louis' tone was far less kind than he'd intended, but he wasn't in the mood.

Lestat laughed. It seemed that there was something to be shared in that - a joke that Louis wasn't part of.

It irritated him, and he pulled his arm away a second time.

"You want to know about my decisions?" Lestat poked his shoulder.

Out of spite, or perhaps just to be cruel, Louis pretended not to hear him.

"Do you want to know my greatest decision?"

"I could probably name your worst."

Lestat smiled fondly, but it went unseen.
