Hello all, this is my Christmas present to you :) Hope you like it!

chapter one

Warnings: Just a little bit of swearing.

Characters: Pandora, Jesse, Daniel and Louis.

It’s just two nights until Christmas. Tomorrow’s Christmas Eve. Christmas is still very exciting, even as a vampire. For me anyway, some of the others don’t share my views unfortunately.

“Well I do!”

My love’s voice drifts to me as she waltzes in the door. Pandora and I have been lovers for months now. We’re living together, in a lovely house on the outskirts of Los Angeles.

“I’d like to see Marius for Christmas Jess-Jess.” says Pandora playing with my hair.

“You can’t, remember? He’s on that important business trip with Armand and Lestat.” I remind her.

“Oh yes. What kind of business would require a trip for those three, do you think?”

I laugh at her puzzlement and the little perplexed expression on her face. Her eyebrows knit together in the middle of her face and she wears this weird lop-sided smile. It’s amazingly cute!

“Good question. Probably something incredibly boring. And undoubtedly to do with money. Or the ways of gaining more.” I reply to her.

I hesitate slightly, thinking.

“Hey! If they’re on this trip thing doesn’t that mean Louis and Daniel are going to be home alone for Christmas?” I exclaim.

“I suppose so Jess. That’s awful, we must have them here.”

I smile brightly, thinking up all kinds of plans.

“Yeah, that would be great! They’re both so much fun!”

“Well go call them then!”
Pandora throws me the cordless phone and I eagerly dial their numbers.

*Next night*

Daniel
****

Well here I am. Standing with Louis on the porch of a beautiful old-fashioned mansion near LA. Jesse and Pandora invited us both over for Christmas so me and Louis drove up here from New Orleans.

Jesse answers the door, looking as happy as ever. She hugs us both enthusiastically and we return the hug with the same level of enthusiasm. We’re all a group of four best friends really. Louis, Pandora, Jesse and me.

The night flies past. About half way through it we all decide to play Truth Or Dare. It’s Jesse’s turn and I’m asking her question, she picked truth. I smile suddenly.

“What would someone have to do to make you sleep with Lestat?”

Pandora and Louis both burst out laughing at the question.

“What would it take?? Yikes! Not much really! It would be worth it just to see what exactly he hides under those fancy clothes!” she giggles hysterically. We all feel like a bunch of hormonal teenagers. Never a good thing, that. But what the hell....

“I bet Louis knows!” says Pandora merrily.

Louis raises an eyebrow and gives Pandora a flabbergasted expression. Then a smile lightens up his face.

“I suppose I do Pandora, yes.”

Pandora stands up and hits him over the head with a pillow.

“Louis!!” she says, feigning shock. “And you didn’t even blush!”

“Quit it guys. It’s your turn Jess.” I say.

“OK, Ok. Ummm. Louis. Truth or dare?” she asks slyly.

Louis chews his lip absent mindedly as he thinks.

“Erm truth I think.”

A truly diabolical grin graces Jesse’s face and Louis knows he’s in for it.

“Ok. How old were you when you lost your virginity? Mortal years as well.”

Louis gasps
“You can’t ask me that!”

“Does that mean you were a virgin when you were made Lou?” screams the laughing Pandora.

“No way! Shut up you.” Louis picks up the discarded pillow and bashes Pandora over the head with it, decorating her fine honey hair with feathers.

“Come on Louis. You have to tell!” encourages Jesse.

“Fine” he throws his arms up in defeat, “I was 14 and a half. Satisfied Madame?”

“*14*??!!” repeats Jesse.

“Yeah so?” says the bewildered Louis.

Before Jesse can explain her shock the phone rings. Seeing as I’m the nearest to it I pick it up.

“Hello?”

“Danny? Hey. It’s Lestat.”

“Oh hi Lestat. How’d you know we were here?”

“Louis left a message.”

“Soooo how’s the business thing going?”

“Ummm fine ... -” a brief hesitation, sounds of a muffled conversation in the background, “Daniel,
there’s something I need to tell you about us.”

“Us? You mean you and Louis?”

“No. Listen I’m in love with Marius and Armand. There’s no business trip. We’re a threesome.”

Oh. My. God.

“Gee, funny Lestat. Ha, ha. You’re fucking kidding right?”

“No I’m not. Can you pass me on to Louis?”

I pass Louis the phone, slowly telling him it’s Lestat and I walk back over to where Jesse and Pandora are sitting.

“What’s up? Who was on the phone?” Jesse asks concerned. I look up to her, my eyes wide.

“It was Lestat. He, Marius and Armand are, you know, *together*. They’re splitting up from me and
Louis.” I tell her, not quite believing it myself. I had so feared the night when I thought something like this would come. But I had been expecting it too, it was obvious to anyone; there was no more love in Armand’s and mine relationship.

But Louis and Lestat! We all thought it was going to work this time. Man, what a blow.

“Oh my god. Are you serious?” asks Jesse.

“Yeah. It’s true, I can feel it.”

“Oh, Daniel. Are you okay?” Pandora questions, concern and anger showing on her face.

“Yeah. I’m fine, slightly shocked. But I knew Armand was going to leave me. It was inevitable. But Louis, ya know? He’s going to be devastated.”

Pandora nods sadly and her gaze moves to the pacing Louis already looking rather distressed.

Jesse looks completely shocked.

“*14*??!!”

I don’t get her, that was just normal when I was a kid. These 20th century children.....

The phone rings then. Daniel answers it, he talks briefly and then passes the phone over to me, looking worse than Jesse did a few seconds ago.

“Hello?” I say into the receiver.

“Louis? It’s Lestat.”

I smile silently, pleased to hear his voice.

“Hi Lestat. Why are you calling?”

“Louis. I’ve got something to tell you.”

There’s a pause. I swallow with difficulty. I don’t like the tone of his voice.

“What?” I ask quietly.

“I - I’m leaving you.”

“What! Why? Are you serious?”

“Yes Lis-Lis. I’m really sorry. I just ..... we’re never going to work. Maker and fledgling, it never has.”

I can’t believe it. He’s breaking up with me. I stop my pacing and stand in the middle of the room.

“Is there someone else?” ‘Say no, please God say no.’

“Well, two others actually. Marius and Armand.”

“Armand?? You mean he’s split up with Daniel? And he didn’t even have the guts to tell it to his face?” I half shout the last few words.

“I don’t think Armand really cares. At least I cared enough to ring you.”

“Yeah whatever.” I hang up the phone before he can answer. I can’t believe it, those bastards!

“Louis?” Daniel comes over looking anxious.

“Ohhhh. Danny?” I look up at him, I feel like I’m about to cry.

He envelops me in a hug and we hold on to each other and I bury my head in his shoulder.

Jesse joins the hug and I put my arm around her shoulders.

“I’m going to kill Armand and Lestat! I’m going to cut out their hearts and stick ‘em on my wall!” she says.

“Yeah. I might just give Marius that same fate too!” exclaims Pandora.

Daniel and I laugh softly, silently thanking the Powers That Be that we have such good friends.

It’s been about an hour since Lestat phoned. Pandora and Jesse have gone out hunting so me and Louis are alone.

He’s sitting on top of the roof of a beautifully crafted stone mausoleum. If he weren’t wearing 20th century clothes he would be almost indistinguishable from the other carved stone angels around him. Apart from the fact maybe, that his ethereal beauty far surpasses their own.

I jump up swiftly and silently onto the roof and tap him on the shoulder. He jumps startled at the
feeling.

“Hey Lou” I smile and sit next to him, crossing my legs.

“Hey.” he replies, going back to staring at the stars.

“Anything good you see up there? Is Santa making his Los Angeles rounds?” I ask in good humour,
trying to draw a conversation out of him.

He laughs softly, the smile lighting up his face.

“No; just nothingness, you know?” He spreads his hands, then clenches them into a fist.

“Yeah, must be pretty comforting I guess.”

“Yeah” he lets out a defeated sigh.

A single blood tear winds it’s way down his pure white cheek. Dark ruby blood on ivory preternatural flesh. A beautiful contrast.

I put my arm around his shoulders and he rests his head on my shoulder, still looking up at the stars.

“I thought it was going to work this time. Everything was going so well! What did I do wrong this time Danny?” he asks me, in a tortured tone.

I feel such anger at Lestat then, how could he do this?

“Lou, it wasn’t you. Lestat was the one with the problem, it’s him that couldn’t see what a wonderful, precious, beautiful person he was giving away.”

“You mean that?” Louis asks me, shocked. “You really think I am those things?”

“Yes” ‘With all my heart’ I add silently.

Oh my god, ‘with all my heart’! That’s it. Oh my, that’s it! That’s why I felt so little for Armand.

I was completely in love with Louis!

And now I’m free and he’s free and ...-

No! He’s just been hurt really badly. He needs me to be a friend, not some love sick puppy trying to
jump his bones.

“Daniel. Do you - do you *love* me?” he asks with wide eyes.

I don’t know what to say. Does he want me to say yes? Does he want me to say No?

“Yes. Always. Forever.”

And he moves his body closer to mine, and touches his lips up against mine. Just a soft caress, a
question, asking me if this was what I wanted.

I put my arms round him, lifting him onto my lap so we are looking eye to eye.

I meet his lips with mine, a touch of silk and velvet. The taste of roses and sunshine.

And we kiss.

And then we make love right there, under the beautiful audience of twinkling stars.

Merry Christmas Louis.
