Title: Tide

The fragrance of spices, mild tymian mixed with the herb smell of oregano, that seems to grow everywhere, flowers, jasmin and hibiscus, heavy and sweer, filling the air, making it rich and overhelming. Shadowing the sense of smelling, only sometimes refreshed by a breeze, coming from the near sea, salt and only faint the smell of fish.

But not only the nose becomes victim of a crescendo of imags, but also the other senses drown in the surroundings.

Unnamed birds singing in the olivetrees and in the vinegar, together with locusts big as my hand. The waves gently breaking on the white sandy beaches, cheerfull voices of the people around me, in so many languages. Music carried in the wid, full of fire, speaking of lust, lust to love, lust to be, to simply live.

These things twirling around, deafning the ears with sweet sounds.

Many people around me, all colors, hair and skin. The native women and men with their untamed wild hair, dark locks falling on bronze tanned shoulders, glowing embers for eyes, speaking of temperament and inner fire. Among them tourists, some of tem dark as the natives, some even darker, some with red skin and bleached hair, some still pale. But all colorfull clothes, a sea of colors, imagineable and never seen.

Nearly blinding the eye.

And for the taste, sweet blood. Leaving the taste of sun and salt on the tongue. Tasting of summerdays and seabreezes.

But for touch and heart only one.

Following the call of the music, throught the mortals strolling around me, reaching streets deserted. Where the only light is the one of the moon, falling on white buildings, overgrown with wild wine and roses, let them glow in faint blue. The path leading to a small hile, framed with old trees, revealing a breath taking view. The way leading down to the beach, a long silverband, nearly reaching the far horizion. The waves of the sea, a deep velvet blue, gently rolling in. The stars reflectet in the water, thousand of jewels dancing in the sea. Let it seem like the heaven has come to earth.

On the other side the lights of a few hotel clubs, in the same style like the city, small white buildings, overgrown with red, orange and yellow flowers. Bungalows made of light wood, now nearly black in the darkness.

The music louder now, coming from one of the more light up buildings near the beach. People, shadowy dancers, swaying and twirling in the sand to the sweet sounds. Fast and flowing motions, following the rythem of the music in a loose circle. Some alone, some in pairs. Just shemes now, but even in this shadowdance I know him, regocnize him among the others, too familiar with him to ever mistake him with another.

Strolling down the way I kick a pebble before me, giving it a good shove and watch as the white stone flys in a high bow into the water. Vanishing with a quiet plopping sound into the sea. Wish I could let my feelings vanish as easily, kick them into some unknown deeps. Would make so much easier, would make the coming things easier.

So much easier.
