I Still Believe In You
Bryan

Disclaimers: Okay people bear with me there are some serious disclaimers I need to put here. Why? I'm not interested in being sued by Anne Rice, her publishers, Vince Gill, his record producers or MCA Records. It's just not my idea of fun!

First and for most the characters mentioned belong to Anne Rice and her publishing company. Secondly, the song "I Still Believe in You" belongs to the writers Vince Gill and John Barlow Jarvis. It is off the CD "I Still Believe In You," MCA Records, Inc. Universal City, CA Copyright 1992 Benefit Music and Inspector Barlow Music (BMI). All rights adminstered by Benefit Music and Bug Music. All rights reserved. Used by permission.

Actually they don't know I'm using it but when they recorded the CD it was used by permission by the artist and all of those other people that produced the album. I think I've done everything right and I know it's a little long but I'm not interested in being sued!

Warnings: None actually this is very clean.

"But Louis please listen to me...I know chere...yes I'm sorry for...but...but...Louis please...baby...Louis? Louis?" Lestat heard the dial tone in his ear. Louis had hung up on him. He felt so defeated. He had forgotten about Louis's publishing debute. He knew this was important to Louis and he promised he'd be there but he just lost track of his days. He was about to call back when a stage hand approached him.

"Excuse me sir you have to go on now."

'Now? But he had to call Louis back. He needed to straighten things out.'

"In a second."

"I'm sorry sir but the crowd has waited for twenty minutes and they're getting restless. Last band that made these people wait for a long time ended up in the hospital." Lestat gave up and decided he'd call Louis after the show. He made it on stage and his band started to play.

The music did not make sense to Lestat through out the entire show. He was on auto-pilot and he couldn't get into the mood of the show. After playing music for an hour he walked back towards his band members and listened half-heartly to the complaints about electrical wiring and the sound of the speakers.

"Hey boss what's wrong?" Tough Cookie had asked when Lestat didn't say a word.

"I've just been thinking. Do you think...no never mind you guys probably don't know the song." She shot him an evil glance.

"Oh and what song is that?"

"'I Still Believe In You.'"

"Yeah by Vince Gill. I know the song my neighbor played it over and over when his wife left to Chicago on a buisness trip. I got so used to hearing it I had to go out and buy the CD when he stopped playing it."

"Do you know the way the song is supposed to be played?"

"Yeah me and the guys played it out of habit when my neighbor didn't."

"So the band already knows the song?"

"Yeah."

"Let's play it." Lestat walked back up to the microphone and addressed the crowd.

"I would like to thank you all for comming out tonight. I would like to dedicate this song to a very special person tonight. I hope my friend is listening. I know it isn't what I usually sing but this song seems to fit the moment." He withdrew and waited as the band started to play the beginning cords.

"Everybody wants a little piece of my time

But still I put you at the end of the line

How it breaks my heart to cause you this pain

To see the tears you cry fallin' like rain

Give me the chance to prove

And I'll make it up to you

I still believe in you

With a love that will always be

Standing so strong and true

Baby I still believe in you and me

Somewhere along the way, I guess I just lost track

Only thinkin' of myself never lookin' back

For all the times I've hurt you, I apologize

I'm sorry it took so long to finally realize

Give me the chance to prove

That nothing's worth losing you

I still believe in you

With a love that will always be

Standing so strong and true

Baby I still believe in you and me
"

Lestat's attention fell to a lone person walking down the entrance. Tall, thin and stunningly beautiful green eyes. His breath caught when he had realized that there were tears in the person's eyes.

The crowd went nuts and they rushed the stage cutting off the vampire's entrance but somehow he managed to get right infront of Lestat.

"Beautiful Lestat. Simply beautiful."

"So you forgive me chere?"

"Yes." Lestat smiled and the rest of the world vanished as he watched his lover wink at him and walk back towards the exit.

"Sir that guy said he will meet you backstage." That damned stageman would end up being dinner if he did not back off. Oh well at least he would let Louis have him if he wanted to.
